Don’t put for tomorrow what you have room to do today. Make hay while the sun shines. Make your case while you still have time. Create value while you can.
This week Hollywood, Uganda and Africa mourns the death of 15-year-old Disney actress, Nikita Pearl Waligwa, who lost her battle to brain cancer.
Nikita featured in the 2016 Disney movie, Queen of Katwe, which tells the true story of Phiona Mutesi, who went from living in dire straits in Uganda to becoming an international chess champion. The movie also starred Lupita Nyong’o, who applauded Nikita, for playing the role of Gloria, Phiona’s friend with such vibrancy.
Her school also tweeted, “Fare thee well Nikita Pearl Waligwa. You were a darling to many and we have lost you to brain tumor at such a tender age. Rest in Perfect Peace dear”.
One cannot help feel the sting at such a loss, but it’s also impossible to miss the impact that little Nikita made in her short time on the planet.
Fare thee well little one. You have fought a good fight.
